For Fun and Glory!

Inspired by the awesomeness of Paris/Roubaix, but with a Texas Twist. 100 mile and 60ish mile options available. Mostly paved roads with about 25% gravel which almost all do-able with fat roadie tires (28s) and definitely do-able on CX 32's. Nope it's not a mountain bike event but it is most definitely an endurance event when you throw in Texas rolling hills, heat and wind. Hard tail mountain bikes would be fine on the 100K route but might get pretty heavy for the 100 miler.

We're looking at including a team competition where the team with the best 3 placements gets some special glory of some sort.

Here is the likely long route for Hell of the North Texas. Red sections are dirt/gravel. About 23 miles of the 101 are dirt. Almost all do-able on 28 slicks with less than 5 miles iffy for slicks. 32 CX tires will be fine on all of it. The scenery on this route may be our best ever. Yellow is controlled start, green is pavement, red is gravel. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4635262

Kevin, What is the climbing like? Do I need the 27 (I usually use a 39-23 the road bike).

Climbing isn't bad. There's a 10-12 mild stretch of rollers that are decent sized but nothing like Red River Riot stuff. It definitely is not flat but none of the climbs are ball breakers.
