Not sure exactly what it looks like yet but we have a permit and keys to the Boyscout camp. I'm pretty sure it will involve food, skills clinics and some practice racing. I'm thinking we'll do time trials of the full NS loop in the morning and a DoubleCross type event in the afternoon. Trail will be open all day just for poking around as well. Vendors and demos are welcome. Let me know if you have ideas too.

Sounds good.

I'd put the DORBA frozen series on my calendar if i had a fucking clue where they were doing the races. Until then, I'm glad we have this and the Sansom 66.

Still at Northshore but specifically a benefit ride now. We will have multiple "events" that day for anyone who wants to ride a bike. We'll be smoking some beast and might try to have BBQ contest and maybe a chili competition too? Ideas are welcome, we want to involve as many people as possible.

This year's Holiday Ramble will be taking on a different format. This will be a benefit ride in support of our friends Ray and Gina Porter. Ray is fighting primary bile duct cancer, Cholangiocarinoma. All proceeds will be going to support the Porters' needs going forward.

We plan for the day to be enjoyable for anyone who rides a bike, not just the hammerheads. In the best of traditions we will have feats of strength and a Festivus pole but the airing of grievances is reserved for Tuesday nights at the MADD shelter.

Our venue will be our awesome gem, the Northshore trail. We will stage at the "Boy Scout Camp" off N. Park road in Flower Mound. Roads are being redone in the area so specific directions/maps will be posted closer to day of event. We will provide BBQ and drinks for all throughout the day.

List of events (subject to change):

100 mile marathon (6 laps) 8:oo am start
1 lap timed lap challenge All Day (show up, get a number, ride)
or just get on your bike and pedal as long as you want

We will have a vendor/display area up at the staging point. We will also have our Feats of Strength there throughout the day (Log pull, slow bike race, Huffy toss, etc.). We are also open to others' ideas so drop us a line if you have something in mind.

Oh, and we'll be doing NS backwards.

Funny...that's my advice to other married men.

Alternative responses:

Funny...that's my advice to all of my sexual partners.

Funny...someone apparently told my penis that recently.

Funny...someone apprently told everyone who works for me that same thing.

Funny...apparently partners at law firms live by this motto.

etc., etc., etc.,

Okay, here's where we are at with this one...

Weather is looking promising but trail status for next weekend is still unknown. Tough to say if it will dry out by then or how much tree removal might be needed on the trail. The fundraiser/gathering will happen regardless of trail conditions or weather.

Plan A is to meet and ride the trail from the Boy Scout camp. We're going to go ahead and keep riding standard trail direction most likely. We'll have a BBQ and Chili Cookoff for anyone who is interested. Texasmountainbiketrails.com will be offering pancake and bacon breakfast/brunch.

Blan B (if trails are still muddy). Meet and eat/socialize at the Boyscout camp. We'll arrange fun and games and maybe a pavement ride of some sort. It's a fund-raiser so let's raise funds.

Plan C (if bad weather on Saturday). Mad Duck Cyclery has been gracious enough to offer up their facilities if weather is less than ideal for outdoor festivities on Saturday. We'll still have pancakes and BBQ and quite possibly red solo cups throughout the day if we end up at Plan C.

Please spread the word for everyone to register in advance so that we can be sure to have enough food and drinks on site. Feel free to bring a table and set up for a bike swap if you need to clean out the garage.

Trail conditions and weather forecasts are making Plan C very likely. Please come out and socialize/eat my meat/drink my beer regardless of where we meet up. We'll probably make the call official on Thursday morning if forecasts hold up.

The fund-raiser is still on for Saturday but the forecast has forced us to cancel the ride. We'll all meet at Mad Duck for food/drink/socializing. We'll also have Ride the NETT shirts for those who didn't get them ride day. More details later tonight.

Right now we're just saying from 10:00 on throughout the day. Folks are welcome to buzz by when convenient. There isn't enough parking there for everyone to show up at the same time.
