SS Minimum payout = $75/$50/$40/$30/$20 based on current registrations. Every additional entry takes it higher.

Men's Open will get pushed to 100% payout if we get at least 50 fun riders preregistered by early next week. We are getting more fun riders and fewer racers than we planned for but that's fine. Current pay out for Men's Open based on 50% payout = $100/$75/$50/$40/$30. If we get to 50 racers in MO we hope to offer a minimum $1500 payout 500/400/300/200/100. I don't know if we'll get the 50 racers or not. There's a lot going on that weekend.

Current Women's payout = $30

Just enter one day as your number. One day license is included in the price.

The swag stash is stacking up nicely. Jerseys, gloves, socks, RoadID's, beer coozies and more. We'll probably have a special give away to announce if we get 100 prereg early enough. We're half way there now.

We could use a sweep vehicle or two. We'll cover your gas and time. Message me if interested.

It's tough running a car/truck out front on those dirt roads and still be close enough to video worth a damn. You can follow the lead pack but that doesn't usually make for good video.

I've got a KLR250 (dual sport) you can borrow...

In.

Do these offers still stand? Ric is interested in taking the klr out.

Tonight's Racing Reminder brought to you by Jana Brock, MD and RainTree Healthcare. TCM RACERS (not Fun Riders) please remember to bring 2 drop bags to be shuttled to the check points if you want a fast reload. We will have water and snacks for self service but we won't be providing hand ups. Drop bags shuttle is for racers only.

How's the gravel on this route? Would I survive on a road bike?

Russ Walker did it last year on 27mm tubulars, so it can be done, but its denton county's finest gravel, which is usually large and chunky.

Course notes (to the best of my recollection and conditions could have changed):

I wouldn't recommend a road bike but as Ryan said it is do-able with a combination of luck and skillful riding.

The first 40 something miles will be crazy fast. You won't want to drop off the main pack. Breakaways can be reeeled in with cooperation but it is mostly dirt roads with tight turns so don't sleep in the pack. Opening 3 miles is a straight shot of pavement to a hard left into the first dirt road. 2 miles until road ends, racers go right fun riders go left. 6 miles of winding dirt roads mostly flattish and smoothish.

5 miles of paved roads through the town of Lindsay and then into a nice undulating a curvey 5 mile dirt road section with only one sharp turn. Pavement through the town of Myra and back into some rolling dirt roads with a bunch of sharp turns to checkpoint 1 about mile 28. Everyone must stop and either grab their feed bag they dropped in the bed of the truck at start or reload from supplied water jugs. Put your empties in the feedbag and they'll be shuttled back to staging. If you came in with the group leave with the group. Don't short pit to try to sneak an advantage. Don't slow the group down if you have a team mate on a breakaway either.

Mile 28 to 54 may have all of 1 mile of pavement. A low water crossing at mile 31 but pretty darned flat until mile 43. Long descent into a valley from there and long climb out the other side. Same stuff we did last year's TCM but going the opposite direction. People will get spit out in the valley but it's fair game for anyone left in the lead group at check point 2 mile 54ish. Same routine with the drop bags.

It's anyone's race from this point on because miles 55-58 are rough as hell big chunk gravel as of 3 weeks ago. New gravel put down and it's gonna be tough to maintain a steady pace through that moonscape. After you clear that stretch you go into the Waide Road Roller Coaster. A 5 mile stretch of kick ass rollers that love to flat people who bottom out on the transition. Mile 65 on is gonna be flat, smooth and about 15 90 degree turns in the last 13 miles. About an even mix of pavement and dirt.

The last 2 miles are all paved. A little over a mile of fast/low traffic farm road with shoulders into Valley View. A hard right at the flashing red light for a final 3/4 mile sprint back to staging. Straight shot from the red light on one road which veers into the dirt driveway of the Athletic field into the finish line.
