Race 2 of the series is coming up in just a few weeks. We are racing on Sunday this time around, but the rest of the series is planned for Saturdays. We plan to have the courses and mileage finalized early next week. Register online to save dough and make everyone's registration oh so much easier.

In addition, we're very pleased to be able to announce the 1+1=1 (SS Open) Class will be available at each race going forward. Ron Wadley Insurance Agency - Farmer's Insurance will be SSupporting participants of each race with their own unique offerings of encouragement (and fun). We will also be presenting a SSpecial end of SSeason Ray Porter award for SSignificant performance in the ClaSS. Who's ready to SSansom?

Race route is marked so go check it out. We think you'll agree it's a fantastic racing lap. Sports (Cat3) will do 2 laps, everyone else will do 3 laps.

Plus, the way Ft Worth is headed, Sansom could be totally hosed by race time next year. Getusum while it's there to be got.

I wouldn't get to concerned over those war drums.

They're supposed to build a splash park and amphitheater at Gateway too. It's out there in the future. Way out.

Personally, I'd like the Trinity Trail going through Sansom and on around Lake Worth.

I'm with you.

If done right, it opens the trail up to the other side of the river.

Being someone who rides the TT to Sansom fairly often, me too. But not if they have to give the MTB trail the Possum Kingdom treatment to have it.

I would expect most of the lower lone wolf trail to be obliterated. It's the cost of progress(?).

I haven't seen the maps but just assumed they'd want to stay close to the river and get a view of the falls as well as work in the flat areas as much as possible. Most anything taken out during construction could be reclaimed afterwards. Some stuff would be lost inevitable (Hidden Falls loop) but most of the stuff in terrain should still be available.

It still takes a pro-active approach to make sure the mtb trail isn't forgotten about in the process though.

Just curious, why the decision to do multiple shorter loops?

Trying a different way of doing Sansom that's more racer friendly. Your comments a while back about not being able to pass racing our trails was part of that decision making process. There should be a lot more race speed passing opportunities in this layout. This configuration also presents a single sustained climb of about 3/4 of a mile instead of the punchy ups and downs. Or the short answer, trying something different.

Figured. While longer loops are typically more enjoyable for me (the racer), the shorter loops are more spectator friendly. It seems like the national MTB racing scene tried this a while back. I haven't kept up so I have no clue what they are doing these days.

We weren't looking for shorter loops specifically, that is just a byproduct of trying to create a simple (fewer turns) loop out there.

i think that's awesome. flow makes for a good race.

straight down-uturn-straight up makes for bottleneck death march.
