Get ready, we're going straight into a funky town MTB marathon... "THE SUPERMAN"

What: The Superman; a long mtb ride/race. One lap @ Gateway Park, then ride to Sansom park via the dirt paths of the Trinity Trail, ride a full lap at Sansom, then ride back to Gateway. Whoever wins will be known as "Superman." There will be two checkpoints that will serve as pit stops. Each rider will receive a "zip tie" at the checkpoints.

When: DECEMBER 4th, the day after Gateway Workfest, @ 9 A.M.

Where: Start and Finish @ Gateway Park, Fort Worth, TX (FWMBA trailhead)

How much: Entry fee will be FREE, however, each rider will be required to sign a waiver and "pay the coffee can." All of the money collected in the coffee can will be split 3 ways and paid out to the podium finishers!!!!

Why: because it's about damn time!

Please spread the word!!! We will be looking for about four volunteers to help with the checkpoint/pit stops (they will located at a halfway point between the two parks, and at Sansom Park).
MORE DETAILS (INCLUDING A MAP) WILL BE POSTED SOON!!!!
Please spread the word!!

We will most likely NOT be able to move forward with the original plan for the Superman Race.

here is my immediate plan, but not the "confirmed plan" (confirmation will come within 24hrs)
plan b: have an abbreviated race this Sunday. It would be a "practice race" on the dirt roads and would go from Gateway, to Sansom, then back to Gateway. This route would not include MTB trails as they will most likely be closed this Sunday. We will still pay-out 100% of the money that riders pay-in, and we will still have prizes, but I will save the good stuff the the BIG race.
This plan also includes the proposed rain date of January 8th, 2012. The rescheduled race would start at Sansom Park... basically the opposite of the original course.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I regret to announce that The Superman Race will be POSTPONED until January 8th, 2012. Many volunteers have come together to help make this event happen, we owe them much gratitude and hope that when the BIG day comes, they will be with us.
I am happy to announce that the format of The Superman Race will be modified to increase the challenge of mountain bike awesomeness. The race will START at Sansom Park, where riders will perform one lap, then ride to Gateway for a lap on the trail, then back to Sansom for a final lap; the nail in the coffin! That should eliminate the question of CX bikes, and the pavilion at Sansom will provide the perfect environment for our post event celebration, where we shall give away tons of MONEY and PRIZES.
Event registration will be available on Bikereg.com. Also, I will continue to post information on Facebook, and the FWMBA.org forum.

For the time being, I would like to invite any and all who are interested in a test of cycling fortitude. This Sunday, December 4th. Meet @ Sansom Park, ready to ride at 9am. We will ride the route from Sansom to Gateway. It will be cold and wet, and I'll be there on my CX bike.

Thanks again to everyone, riders, volunteers, and sponsors.

SEE YOU IN JANUARY!!!!!!

best regards,

Yeah, just saw that. I have a friend driving up from Waco hoping to get a spot, I told him to get there early. You could always outlaw it if you don't get an official number plate. Rode the TT from my place (University/TT) to Sansom yesterday, route is pretty well-marked...it got confusing as you got closer to the trail (he said on facebook that we're going to enter the trail part of the way in?), but we ended up at the grass loop when we followed the arrows.

Is the route marked from sansom to gayeway?

If we can't get in, we're sweeping the A group. He said 70 are registered with a cap of 100, but registration only shows 45 registered?
