Well, the racing types have some stiff competition now.

Word? I was the second one to register for this gig. They have known it since day one.

We're at 47 entries with about twenty minutes to go. We'll be turning some heads in Ft Worth and Arlington tomorrow.

Why would they be pissed?

They are kind of uptight about events using their parks. I've had issues in the past trying to put things through with them. They were pretty much okay with this one when I said I didn't expect more than 30 riders. They were emphatic that I needed to let them know if it was going to be more. 50 something should be fine still. I don't think we'll have any problems. Just don't run over any little old ladies or kids while rolling through River Legacy.

Wow, we ended up with 53 entries! More than twice what we were expecting. Thanks all for signing up. I promise the ride will be a memorable one.

A few housekeeping items...

1. Unfortunately the portajohns that have always been at the staging area parking lot weren't there today when we went to mark course. There will be restrooms along the course but do your preride business before you get there.

2. Map to staging area is here http://g.co/maps/qp8fg

3. We won't be providing SAG but we won't leave anyone hanging either. My number is 817-715-0533 if you run into trouble. We always recommend trying to ride with other riders when possible as well.

4. We will be there around 8am to have waivers signed. Riders' meeting will be 8:45 so try to be there by 8:30 at the latest.

5. Feel free to explore the Stock Yards or anything else you come across. Text me if you feel you are going to detour for several hours though. We won't be having a formal check in or an official sweep process since folks can meander if they choose to.

6. Course is marked but marking can come down for various reasons. The Trinity Trail will get you directly to Gateway Park if you get off course. Most folks on the TT are very helpful if you need directions.

7. Have a blast!

As always, feel free to touch base if you have any questions.

Kevin

CofA/APD was a rolling clusterfuck when we ran the Soldier Ride through there in '09. They were completely ineffectual at everything they had committed to. I hope Parks has their poop in a tighter group for you.

Pretty sure we were off everybody's radar.

What would be a true monster cx bike?

The one that wins it. It will need to be able to handle tight, twisty singletrack as well as some climbs/descents. The opening 15 miles will be paved road so being able to ride comfortably in a group/paceline could be important for somebody going for the win. I hope to incorporate a CX course including barriers in the mix as well.

Well, the co-top finishers didn't make this any easier to figure out. Chris Powers was on CX and John McAllister was on mtb with cx tires. Those guys were awesome fast. We couldn't keep up with them in the car.
